The Delhi High Court has granted interim bail to all four co-owners of the basement involved in the tragic death of three students during an accident at the Old Rajendra Coaching Center. The court’s decision provides significant relief to the accused, allowing them to be released on bail until January 30.
Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma ordered the co-owners to deposit Rs 5 crore in the account of the Red Cross Society as a condition for their interim bail. This decision follows the court’s review of the bail plea filed on September 12.

In addition to granting bail, Justice Sharma requested the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to form a committee chaired by a retired High Court judge. This committee will oversee and ensure that coaching centers comply with regulations. The court emphasized that the government should designate specific locations for coaching centers to operate legally.
During the bail hearing, Justice Sharma described the incident as “unfortunate” and noted that the case was not ordinary. The students who died were Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Navin Delvin.
Previously, on August 23, the Rouse Avenue Court had rejected the bail plea, citing that the investigation was still in its early stages. The CBI had opposed bail, arguing that the basement was constructed illegally. The defense argued that the deaths were due to unforeseen circumstances and that proper municipal oversight could have prevented the tragedy.
