Delhi High Court Grants Extension for Surveying 123 Properties Linked to Waqf Board
In a recent update, the scheduled hearing for the case related to the 123 properties of the Delhi Waqf Board in the Delhi High Court was deferred. The Delhi High Court, recognizing the complexity of the matter, has allowed additional time for the completion of property surveys. The subsequent hearing for this case is slated to take place in April 2024, indicating a deliberate and thorough legal process.
The central government presented information in court, revealing that surveys have been executed for 75 out of the total 123 properties. Notably, L&DO conducted surveys for 40 properties, while DDA surveyed 35 properties within the mentioned 123. Acknowledging the intricate nature of the surveying process, the central government estimated a timeline of two to three months to finalize surveys for the remaining properties.

The petitioner highlighted key events, noting that in 2014, the status of the 123 properties underwent de-notification. A committee consisting of two members submitted a comprehensive report. In compliance with the directives from the High Court, both L&DO and DDA conducted surveys for the properties in question.
As this case unfolds, the extended timeframe and meticulous surveying process underscore the gravity of the issues surrounding the 123 properties associated with the Delhi Waqf Board. The April 2024 hearing will likely be a crucial juncture in determining the course of action in this complex legal matter.
