The Delhi High Court extended the stay on the arrest of dismissed trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar until August 29. The court will also hear her anticipatory bail plea on the same date.
Defense Requests More Time
Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, representing Khedkar, requested additional time to respond to a late-night reply from the UPSC. The court granted the request. Earlier, the High Court noted that the trial court overly focused on the allegations against Khedkar, neglecting the bail aspect.
FIR for Using Fake Certificates
The police registered an FIR against Khedkar for allegedly using fake certificates in the civil services exam. The court earlier dismissed another petition by Khedkar and allowed her to approach the appropriate forum. The UPSC informed the court that it would notify Khedkar of the permanent cancellation of her candidature within two days.
Khedkar challenged the UPSC’s decision and sought to cancel both her candidature and the related press release. Advocate Naresh Kaushik, representing UPSC, said the press release was issued because her address was unknown. The High Court’s earlier ruling found Khedkar guilty of violating UPSC rules, leading to her disqualification.
