Kejriwal case to be heard on june 19

The vacation bench of Rouse Avenue Court will hear Kejriwal’s bail Plea on June 19. Judge Mukesh Kumar will hear the regular bail plea filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in the Delhi liquor policy alleged scam case.

N Hariharan appeared in the court on behalf of Arvind Kejriwal and Zoheb Hussain represented ED. Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer Hariharan told the court that Arvind Kejriwal has filed an application seeking relief.

The court has sought a reply from the Tihar Jail authorities. The Petition demanded that the jail authorities should allow Sunita Kejriwal to attend Kejriwal’s medical examination through video conferencing. ED said that they need time to respond to the application. However, to this, the court replied that the accused is in judicial custody, not ED. The bench further observed that ED has no role to play in this regard.

The court said that the jail superintendent should be asked whether there is any problem with doing video conferencing.

ED claims to be a party in Kejriwal’s case

The ED counsel told the court that there were some concerns regarding the food of Arvind Kejriwal. It further said the court had constituted a medical board on April 22. Till now this request was not made by him. ED requested, therefore, that if they were allowed to file a short reply, there will be no major problem.

ED further stated that they are an important interested party in this case due to the provision of section 45 of PMLA.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 on the allegation that he was part of a conspiracy to deliberately leave loopholes in the now-expired Delhi Excise Policy for 2021-22 to benefit certain liquor sellers.

The ED has alleged that the bribe received from liquor sellers was used for the election campaign of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa and Kejriwal, being the national convener of the party, is personally and vicariously liable for the offence of money laundering.
