Delhi Congress Promises Rs 8,500 Monthly Dole For Jobless Youth Ahead Of Assembly Election

On Sunday, the Delhi Congress party unveiled a major promise to address the issue of unemployment among educated youth in the city. If the party comes to power in the upcoming February 5 Assembly elections, it guaranteed a monthly financial aid of Rs 8,500 for jobless, educated youth for one year. The announcement was made as part of the party’s ‘Yuva Udan Yojana,’ which aims to attract and support young people facing unemployment.

The announcement came just a day before the mega rally of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in Seelampur, East Delhi, scheduled for Monday. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devender Yadav and former Union Minister Sachin Pilot emphasized the party’s commitment to addressing the city’s pressing issues of “breathlessness, lawlessness, and joblessness.”

A Promise Of Financial Support And Employment Opportunities

Pilot highlighted the failure of both the Central and Delhi governments to support the educated, unemployed youth. Drawing a comparison with past administrations, he said, “Rajivji’s and Manmohan Singh’s governments ushered in the IT revolution and economic reforms, which created numerous jobs for the youth.”

He reiterated the Congress’s commitment to jobless youth, saying, “Rahul Gandhiji, Khargeji, and the entire party are in favor of supporting educated, jobless youth. We are guaranteeing Rs 8,500 per month for one year, during which we will provide training and opportunities to place them in companies based on their skills.”

Congress Claims To Offer A Constructive Political Approach

Pilot also criticize the current political environment in Delhi, claiming it dominate by “media management, ego clashes, and accusations.” He positioned the Congress as the only party capable of constructive politics, focusing on developmental issues. “We are not fighting this election just to participate; we are fighting to win and to address the concerns of the youth,” Pilot asserted.

He further stated that if the Congress receives the people’s support, it will use government funds wisely to address the growing frustration among educated, unemployed youth in the city.

Skill Development And Self-Employment Initiatives

Yadav added that the Rs 8,500 monthly financial assistance would be provided by the state government for one year, along with efforts to connect youth to jobs based on their skill sets. The Congress also pledged to help improve their skills and encourage self-employment opportunities.

“The youth of Delhi neglect under 10 years of AAP rule. What was once a world-class capital has now become a city plagued by breathlessness, lawlessness, and joblessness,” Yadav said, drawing attention to the perceived decline in the city under the Aam Aadmi Party’s governance.

Youth Icon Varun Chaudhary Joins The Meeting

The announcement also saw the participation of NSUI President Varun Chaudhary, who is being projected as a youth icon by the party. Chaudhary’s presence underscored Congress’s focus on engaging young voters as the election approaches.

The ‘Yuva Udan Yojana’ is present as a solution to the growing unemployment crisis, aiming to empower the educate youth with both financial assistance and employment opportunities. With the election looming, the Congress party is positioning itself as the champion of youth welfare in Delhi.
