The Rouse Avenue Court dismissed a petition by SUV driver Manoj Kathuria, the accused in the death of three students in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. The CBI informed the court that it has preserved key CCTV footage, including recordings from Rao Coaching, a Delhi Police Pink Booth, and Chahal Academy.
Kathuria had filed a petition requesting the preservation of CCTV footage from the incident area. The court granted the CBI one week to submit a report on Kathuria’s petition for the release of his vehicle.
Kathuria is accused of driving at high speed through a waterlogged road, causing a gate’s glass to shatter and leading to basement flooding. Police arrested him based on video evidence and placed him in judicial custody. His initial bail plea was denied by the Magistrate Court, but he later secured conditional bail from the Sessions Court.
Kathuria’s lawyer argued that the incident was unintentional, claiming the vehicle was moving at only 15 kilometers per hour. He also stated that navigating waterlogged roads is challenging and attributed responsibility to the Municipal Corporation for failing to prevent waterlogging.
