Delhi CM Unveils Plans For New Tourist Circuit Aligned With Modi’s Development Vision

In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for tourism-driven growth, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday that her government will develop a new tourist circuit in the national capital to attract both domestic and international visitors.

While Delhi already boasts renowned historical landmarks such as the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Birla Mandir, and Humayun’s Tomb, the Chief Minister said the new initiative aims to expand the city’s tourism footprint.

The upcoming circuit will include modern attractions like Yashobhoomi, Bharat Mandapam, Amrit Udyan, Shaheed Smarak, and the Yamuna riverfront zone.

Addressing The NITI Aayog Governing Council

Chief Minister Gupta made the announcement after attending the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, where she took a veiled swipe at the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration for its absence from such crucial forums over the past decade.

Earlier in the day, she expressed her sentiments on social media platform X, posting: “Today, after many years, we are going to represent Delhi in the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. Due to the conduct of the previous irresponsible governments, Delhi’s rights were not being raised. But now, the double-engine government is on track.”

Presenting Delhi’s Vision For 2047

Speaking at the meeting, Gupta highlighted her government’s commitment to building a “Developed Delhi for a Developed India”, echoing the larger national agenda of Viksit Bharat @2047.

“We are here to present the roadmap and the aspirations of Delhi’s people. Our goal is to ensure that Delhi plays a leading role in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation,” she stated.

Modi Urges States To Create Global-Standard Tourist Destinations

In his opening address, Prime Minister Modi urged each state to develop at least one global-standard tourist destination, emphasising the importance of creating future-ready cities to support economic and cultural growth.

The Governing Council meeting, held at Bharat Mandapam, focused on the theme ‘Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat @2047’.

The forum provided an opportunity for the Centre, States, and Union Territories to collaborate on strategic priorities for India’s development trajectory over the next two decades.

Emphasis On Skilling, Entrepreneurship, And Employment

Beyond tourism and urban development, the meeting also addressed key issues such as entrepreneurship promotion, skill enhancement, and the creation of sustainable employment opportunities across the country.

Delhi’s participation in the meeting marks a renewed engagement with national policy-making, and Gupta’s proposals signal her administration’s intent to reposition the capital as a modern, dynamic hub for culture, tourism, and development.
