Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on Sunday hailed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s move to introduce a bill in Parliament that seeks the removal of tainted ministers.
She made the remarks while addressing the All India Speakers’ Conference 2025 at the Delhi Assembly.
“Vitthalbhai Patel ji ignited the flame of parliamentary traditions and democratic decorum even in a subservient India. Today, under the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah, that flame is shining brighter and becoming a historic legacy for all of us,” Gupta said.
The two-day conference, held on August 24 and 25, commemorates the centenary of Vitthalbhai Patel becoming the first elected Indian Speaker of a legislature.
Gupta described Patel’s election as a ‘moral victory for Indians’ during the pre-Independence era. She added that the conclave would serve as a milestone in the journey of Parliament and legislative bodies, strengthening India’s democracy.

CM Gupta praised Home Minister Shah, who inaugurated the conference, for reinforcing democratic decorum, impartiality, and timeliness.
“His presence elevates this conference from a mere organisation to a historic milestone in the upliftment of democratic values,” she said.
She also referred to Shah as a ‘guardian of democracy’, applauding his decision to abrogate Article 370 and to bring in the bill against tainted ministers.
Calling Shah ‘the voice of democracy in the Lok Sabha’, Gupta said his words always reflect the Constitution and carry logical weight. She further added that Shah’s knowledge of legislative business and his strong statements have deepened public trust in the government and Parliament.
“HM Shah is a role model for all elected representatives due to his consistent efforts to safeguard democracy,” Gupta remarked.

Representatives from Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab, and other states also participated.
