A Delhi court has extended Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody until July 12 in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged liquor policy scam. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court issued this extension following the expiration of his previous judicial custody term.
Earlier today, Kejriwal’s bail plea in a corruption case was submitted to the Delhi High Court for urgent listing. Acting Chief Justice Manmohan’s bench assured that the bail petition will be heard on Friday, July 5.
On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court issued a notice on Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the CBI. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna’s bench directed the central agency to respond by July 17.
Kejriwal was recently remanded to 14-day judicial custody until July 12 in another corruption case linked to the same liquor policy scam. On June 26, the CBI formally arrested him when he appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court.

The day before, the Delhi High Court stayed a trial court’s order granting bail to Kejriwal in the money laundering case, citing issues with the court’s appreciation of documents and arguments.
In May, the Supreme Court reserved its verdict on Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest and subsequent remand by the Enforcement Directorate in the excise policy case. He was granted 21-day interim bail by the apex court due to the general elections.
