Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has withdrawn his plea before the Supreme Court. The plea challenged the interim stay imposed by the Delhi High Court on his release on bail in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged liquor policy scam.

Kejriwal informed a vacation bench headed by Justice Manoj Misra that he would withdraw the plea, noting that he would file a fresh petition in light of the recent developments in the Delhi High Court.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, sought permission to withdraw the current special leave petition, indicating intentions to challenge both the 21st and 25th orders of the Delhi High Court in a new petition.
The Supreme Court bench granted Kejriwal liberty to file a fresh petition and dismissed the current petition as withdrawn.
This move comes after the Delhi High Court had stayed the trial court’s order granting bail to Kejriwal, following a plea by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) which asserted that the trial court had not fully considered all relevant materials and arguments.
On Monday, the Supreme Court had declined to immediately intervene against the Delhi High Court’s stay on Kejriwal’s bail, adjourning the matter to Wednesday to await the high court’s decision on ED’s plea for an interim stay.
On 21 June, the Delhi High Court temporarily halted Kejriwal’s release on bail. The court directed that further hearings must precede the execution of the bail order.
The high court had reserved its order on ED’s plea for an interim stay, emphasizing a need for comprehensive deliberation.
The ED’s request to defer the implementation of the bail order by 48 hours was rebuffed by the trial court, which firmly upheld its decision to grant bail to Kejriwal amidst ongoing legal proceedings.
