After 27 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in the National Capital and announced Rekha Gupta as its Chief Minister. Her name proposed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and accepted by the BJP leadership.

Pravesh Verma Appointed Deputy CM

Along with Rekha Gupta’s appointment, the BJP has also confirmed that Pravesh Verma will serve as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. The BJP Legislature Party selected Vijendra Gupta as the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly during a meeting held on Wednesday evening in Delhi. Party observers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankhar attended the meeting.

Swearing-In Ceremony Scheduled for February 20

The official swearing-in ceremony for the new government will take place on February 20, 2025, at the iconic Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. The event however marks the beginning of a new political chapter for the city, as the BJP aims to lead Delhi after its long absence from power.

Key Figures In The Selection Process

The party further discussed several names for the post of Chief Minister, with Rekha Gupta and Pravesh Verma emerging as the frontrunners. Pravesh Verma made headlines after defeating Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi Assembly seat. Rekha Gupta secured a victory from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, solidifying her position as the new leader of Delhi.

As the BJP sets its course for governance, the appointment of Rekha Gupta as Delhi’s new Chief Minister is a historic moment, marking a significant shift in the city’s political landscape.
