Delhi Building Collapse: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan Expresses Grief, Prays For Injured

On Sunday, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan expressed grief over the building collapse in southwest Delhi’s Satya Niketan area, which claimed at least one life and left several people injured.

Radhakrishnan offered condolences to the families of those who died and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier expressed sorrow over the loss of life and prayed for the recovery of those injured.

PM Modi said authorities were working at the site and assisting those affected by the incident.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Police Commissioner and the NDRF Director General to assess the situation. He said the local administration and NDRF were conducting intensive rescue operations in coordination and providing necessary medical assistance to the injured.

Shah also cancelled his scheduled programmes in Goa after the Delhi incident came to light.

Incident Details

The collapse occurred near Shiv Mandir in Satya Niketan, RK Puram.

Delhi Police said the building was around 40-50 years old. It had a basement and five upper floors. The building was being used as paying guest accommodation for students.

Repair work was taking place in the basement when the structure collapsed. At least one person was killed, while six people were rescued by first responders. Rescue teams continued searching the debris for anyone who could still be trapped.
