The Monsoon Session of Parliament will continue today at 11 AM in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, following Tuesday’s adjournment after a tense debate over Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Tuesday’s session featured sharp confrontations and strong political statements from both government and opposition benches.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the House, commending the Armed Forces for their swift action.
The Prime Minister declared, “This is the new normal,” as he outlined India’s firm stance on cross-border terrorism.
PM Modi further asserted that foreign powers had no role in shaping India’s response, adding, “Told US Vice President that if Pakistan attacks India, our attack would be much bigger as we will respond to bullets with cannons.”
He further emphasised that no international leader requested India to stop the operation, highlighting a stance driven by national priorities.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, criticised the government for not granting the Armed Forces full operational freedom.
He claimed political limitations led to the loss of aircraft and that Pakistan had been pre-informed that its military infrastructure would not be targeted.
Priyanka Gandhi voiced similar concerns in the Lower House, questioning the strategic boundaries imposed.
In the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge and former Home Minister P Chidambaram also addressed the issue, adding further perspective to the debate.
With both Houses reconvening today, discussions on national security and military decision-making are likely to remain central to the day’s proceedings.
