Controversy surrounds Kannada superstar Darshan, who is currently jailed. Reports indicate that he is receiving special treatment. Sources reveal that he enjoys non-vegetarian dishes, liquor, and other privileges while in prison.
Darshan, who faces charges in a kidnapping and murder case, is held at the Central Prison in Bengaluru. Recently, photos of him smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee surfaced online. Additionally, a 25-second video recording also emerged. This recording shows Darshan’s associate making a video call, where Darshan is seen speaking to someone on the other end.
Following the video’s circulation, authorities have taken action. They plan to send the recording to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to verify its authenticity.
Sources have disclosed that Darshan’s prison experience resembles a luxury resort. He is allowed to request non-vegetarian food, including chicken and mutton biryani, from a renowned Bengaluru South hotel. Furthermore, he receives his choice of liquor and is permitted to hold parties with notorious rowdies such as Wilson Garden Naga, Backery Raghu, Nagaraj, and Raghu.
Inside the prison, Darshan also enjoys cigarettes and massages. Sources claim that these privileges are likely due to the influence of powerful ruling party politicians.

To address these issues, Home Minister G. Parameshwara will personally visit the Central Jail later today. This follows surprise raids conducted by the City Central Crime Branch (CCB) last Saturday. The CCB had received a tip-off about Darshan’s luxurious treatment and the possible presence of weapons. However, the raid yielded no material, leading to speculation that the contraband had been moved beforehand.
The Home Minister has ordered a review of CCTV footage from the past three days to investigate the shifting of items. So far, seven prison staff members, including two jailers, have been suspended. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has demanded that Darshan and his associates be transferred to different prisons across the state and has requested a report from the Karnataka Police chief.
