The bail case of Prabir Purkayastha, the accused arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and founder of Newsclick, was heard in Patiala House Court. During the hearing in the court, the lawyer of Newsclick HR Amit Chakraborty argued against the Delhi Police and pleaded for bail. At the same time, Delhi Police opposed the bail application of Amit Chakraborty.
According to Samvad sources, Prabir Purkayastha’s lawyer in Patiala House Court said that he has not been made an accused in the FIR. Prabir Purkayastha’s lawyer said that Prabir has only 0.09% share in News Click, he has no role in journalism or management. Similarly, Amit Chakraborty’s lawyer said that charge sheet has not been filed in our case. In such a situation, the court should look at the case diary to see whether the allegations against the accused are prima facie proven true or not. The accused’s lawyer said that the court will have to see what material is available on record against me.

Opposition to Amit Chakraborty’s bail application
Delhi Police raised questions on whether the bail application is hearable before the court or not. Delhi Police opposed the bail application of Amit Chakraborty. Delhi Police said that Amit should file a bail application under section 437. Delhi Police said that the investigation is still in the initial stages.
Now the next hearing in the court will be on 24th November
Now Patiala House Court will hold the next hearing on November 24, where the bail of the accused arrested under UAPA and Newsclick HR Amit Chakraborty will be debated.
