Former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah will be fighting from his Varuna seat in Karnatak Assembly Polls

Congress has stepped into the battlefield of the Karnataka Assembly Elections. The party has released its list of 124 candidates for the respective elections coming up in the month of May.

“Here is the first list of Congress candidates finalized by the CEC for the forthcoming Karnataka assembly elections,” the party said on Twitter, sharing a list of the candidates.

Ministers on field

According to the list, former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah will be fighting from his Varuna seat. Also, Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, DK Shivakumar will contest the elections from his Kanakapura assembly constituency. Former minister, KH Muniappa will contest from Devanahalli. Priyank Kharge, son of Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge will be contesting from Chitapur.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) press release said, “The CEC has selected the following persons as Congress candidates for the forthcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly of Karnataka.”

Congress Party holds meeting for Karnataka Elections

The Congress is the first party to release its candidates’ list for the elections in Karnataka. Even, before the announcement of the schedule for assembly polls by the Election Commission. As, the schedule is yet to release. Assembly polls in Karnataka are slated before May when the tenure of the current assembly ends.
The party’s central election committee cleared the first list of candidates after a meeting in Delhi on March 17. The committee is chaired by Congress Chief, Kharge. Rahul Gandhi was also present at the meeting.
The Congress is seeking to wrest power from the BJP in the southern state.
