Amidst the nation’s fervour over Ram Mandir’s consecration ceremony, the Congress party criticized BJP, accusing them of turning the auspicious ceremony “out and out political event”. They claimed that the event is being conducted without the advice of shankaracharyas. Additionally, religious procedures are also being disregarded.
Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera Expresses Concern
While addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera stated the ceremony should consider the guidance of shankaracharyas. He further added that according to all four of them, consecrating an “incomplete temple” deemed inappropriate.
Khera expressed concern about the politicization of the event and questioned the involvement of political parties in determining who attends religious events. He argued that religion is a personal matter, and people should be free to visit Ayodhya for spiritual purposes without political interference.
Khera Accuses BJP’s IT Cell
Khera also accused the BJP’s IT cell of campaigning against the shankaracharyas and asserted that the ceremony lacked true religious sentiment, being primarily driven by political motives. He questioned the process of selecting the ceremony date, suggesting that it might be influenced by electoral considerations.
Opposition Party Leaders Who Declined The Invitation
The Congress leaders, including President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, declined the invitation to the ceremony, calling it a political project by the BJP and RSS. They emphasized their commitment to personal faith and mentioned that party leaders from Uttar Pradesh would visit Ayodhya for ‘darshan’ on January 15, despite not attending the official ceremony on January 22.
In contrast, the BJP, RSS, and affiliated Hindutva organizations are actively promoting the event nationwide, encouraging people to visit Ayodhya after the consecration ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are expected to attend the event along with thousands of others, including seers from across the country and foreign guests.
