Adhir Ranjan Choudhury, a senior member of the Congress, questioned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision to attend the dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu on the occasion of the G20 summit in New Delhi on Sunday, wondering if doing so would not soften her opposition to the Narendra Modi administration.
The president of the state Congress questioned whether the leader of the Trinamool Congress had “any other reason” to attend the function.
The TMC retaliated against Choudhury by claiming that Banerjee is one of the driving forces behind the India non-BJP coalition and that the Congress politician did not need to instruct her on the proper administrative protocol to be followed.
“Didi (Mamata Banerjee) traveled to Delhi a day before the dinner because many non-BJP CMs decided not to attend. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah both attended the event together in the same space.
Choudhury told reporters, “I wonder what compelled her to rush all the way to Delhi to join in the dinner party with these politicians.

The dinner party was held the following day, while Banerjee left for Delhi on Friday.
Is she attending the event for any other purpose? Choudhury questioned.
Santanu Sen, a Rajya Sabha member for the TMC, responded to his claim by saying that no one can deny that Mamata Banerjee is one of the builders of India.
