Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, attended the 51st India Gem & Jewellery Awards (IGJA) in Jaipur on Tuesday evening. Speaking publicly for the first time on the recent allegations against his group by the US Justice Department, Adani reassured the audience of the group’s resilience and ability to overcome challenges.
Addressing the audience, Adani reflected on the allegations linked to Adani Green Energy. “As most of you would have read, less than two weeks have passed since we faced allegations from the US. This is not the first time we have faced such challenges. Every attack makes us stronger, and every obstacle becomes a step for a more resilient Adani Group,” he stated.
Adani highlighted how misinformation often overshadows facts in today’s fast-paced world. “Despite vested interest reporting, no one on the Adani side has been charged with conspiracy to violate the FCPA or obstruct justice. Yet, negativity spreads faster than facts. As we work through the legal process, I reaffirm our full commitment to world-class regulatory compliance,” he said.
Reflecting on the difficulties faced by the group, Adani noted that challenges have only strengthened their resolve. “These challenges have not broken us. Instead, they have defined us, making us stronger and more determined. After every fall, we rise again, stronger and more resilient,” he remarked.
Adani also revisited the January 2023 controversy involving US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research. He acknowledged the difficulties posed by the incident but emphasized the group’s unwavering commitment to moving forward despite adversities.
Adani concluded his speech with a message of determination and resilience, asserting that the Adani Group remains steadfast in its mission and continues to grow stronger with every challenge it faces.
