Coaching Centre Fire In Lucknow Kills 15, Several Injured

A major fire broke out at a coaching centre in Lucknow’s Aliganj area on Monday, prompting an extensive rescue operation and resulting in at least 15 casualties. Several bodies were seen being taken from the building as emergency teams continued search and evacuation efforts.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. He directed senior officials to contact the affected families and ensure all possible assistance.

The Chief Minister also instructed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to those injured in the blaze.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the rescue operation was nearing completion, with most students already evacuated safely.

Fire brigade personnel entered the building by breaking through a wall on the second floor of an adjacent house.

Teams installed exhaust fans to clear the heavy smoke. They also carried out a room-by-room search, including the washrooms.

“According to their peers, 3-4 children had locked themselves inside a washroom. Fire brigade personnel have reached the top floor and found no one there. We will provide full details once the search operation concludes,” Deputy Chief Minister said.

According to Brajesh Pathak, the building contained a coaching centre, an animation centre and a pet shop.

Some students sustained injuries while attempting to escape and later received treatment at hospitals.

The fire reportedly erupted in a building housing a library and a computer training institute.

An eyewitness, Aman, said thick smoke engulfed the structure, and residents managed to rescue five to six people. He added that one person suffered serious injuries after jumping from the building in panic, while some individuals were likely to remain trapped inside.

“Some children jumped out; they sustained injuries and have been sent to the hospital. The priority is to ensure the injured receive proper medical treatment,” Pathak said.
