Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern warning to those using drones illegally, stating that such individuals will be prosecuted under the Gangster Act, and if necessary, under the National Security Act (NSA).
The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the directive in an official statement.
No Tolerance for Panic or Rumour-Mongering
CM Yogi strictly prohibited operating drones without prior permission. He asserted that any attempt to spread panic or misinformation using drones or similar technology would result in strict legal action.
“The administration will not tolerate those taking the law into their own hands,” he said.
He also reaffirmed that rumour-mongers would face severe consequences.
The Chief Minister has directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the Director General of Police to review drone-related illegal activities in every district.
He instructed officials to launch drone monitoring systems across the state and ensure routine patrolling to instil a sense of security among the public.
CM Yogi sends a Strong Message
CM Yogi’s strong message follows a series of unusual incidents involving drones and other objects mistaken for them.
Police in Muzaffarnagar arrested two individuals who used pigeons equipped with green LED lights to create an illusion of drones and cause public panic.
Similarly, in Hapur, kites fitted with LED lights triggered fear, leaving residents anxious throughout the night.
In a more serious case, security personnel in Tripura discovered a drone marked ‘Made in China’ near the India-Bangladesh border.
The Border Security Force (BSF) is now conducting a detailed analysis of the drone’s origin and purpose.
Following Operation Sindoor, several cities, including Mumbai, enforced strict drone usage restrictions.
Despite the ban, residents in Kandivali’s Bandar Pakhadi area recently reported sightings of a drone, further fueling concerns about the misuse of UAVs.
CM Yogi reiterated that the misuse of technology would not go unpunished, and authorities must remain vigilant to prevent such activities from threatening public peace.
