CM Yogi To Lay Foundation Stone For International Film City In Greater Noida Today

UP is set to launch the International Film City with a groundbreaking ceremony today in Sector-21, Yamuna Expressway, Greater Noida.

International Film City

Uttar Pradesh is poised to take a major step in boosting its media and entertainment industry, with the groundbreaking ceremony for the International Film City likely to take place today in Sector-21, along the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will lead the foundation stone-laying ceremony, scheduled for 5 PM, marking the official start of the state’s most ambitious film initiative to date.

Bayview Bhutani Film City Pvt Ltd—a joint venture between filmmaker Boney Kapoor and the Bhutani Group—is driving the project in partnership with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Several Bollywood personalities, including Boney Kapoor and members of the Bhutani family, will likely attend the Bhoomi Pujan event.

This initiative represents a significant move by the state government to position Uttar Pradesh as a prominent hub for film and media production.

YEIDA had initially withheld approval due to unmet conditions such as a required 15 per cent green cover, safety certifications, and relevant no-objection documents.

However, after modifying the project’s layout and meeting regulatory requirements, officials approved the industrial component, covering an 80-acre core area.

Phased development over eight years

Spanning 1,000 acres in total, the development will unfold in four phases over eight years.

The initial focus will be on core infrastructure for filmmaking, with commercial and entertainment elements—such as hotels, shops, and leisure facilities—introduced in later phases.

The first phase will encompass around 230 acres and involve an investment ranging from ₹900 crore to ₹1,510 crore.

Key features include 13 to 14 advanced sound stages, a film and television institute, permanent outdoor sets, an underwater studio, accommodation for talent, a convention centre, and a film museum.

Estimates suggest the project could generate up to five lakh jobs, both directly and indirectly.

Situated near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, the International Film City will likely attract filmmakers from across India and abroad, further enhancing Uttar Pradesh’s role in the national and global film landscape.
