CM Yogi Signs MoU with Ashok Leyland
Ashok Leyland has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government in Uttar Pradesh to establish a manufacturing unit for affordable electric vehicles (EVs) in the state, along with the construction of charging stations. This move comes as automotive companies are launching electric vehicles due to rising fuel prices and environmental concerns. Over the past 2-3 years, there has been an increased demand for electric vehicles, supported by initiatives from both the central and state governments. In this context, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has signed an MoU with Ashok Leyland.
Uttar Pradesh possesses largest market in Asia
During a program held on Kalidas Marg in Lucknow, which saw the presence of several prominent figures, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude after the MoU signing. He emphasized that Uttar Pradesh possesses the largest market in Asia and expressed satisfaction that Ashok Leyland has chosen to partner with the state. He mentioned that it’s surprising that the Hinduja Group had not been in Uttar Pradesh until now, but he is pleased that Ashok Leyland’s team has come to the state and signed the MoU. He also stated that this move aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision.
Uttar Pradesh’s progress over the past 6 years
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath mentioned that the agreement for electric vehicles will reduce dependence on fuels not available locally, which often requires spending valuable currency. He also highlighted the significance of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in achieving Prime Minister Modi’s goal of ‘Net Zero’ by 2070. Chief Minister Yogi further emphasized that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable progress in the past six years. He stated that the state government is committed to providing security to the country’s investors and showcased Uttar Pradesh as a model for legislation in the country.
Significant advancements in infrastructure development
While addressing the program, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that over the past six years, Uttar Pradesh has made significant advancements in infrastructure development. He highlighted that the state boasts the largest metro network in the country, has improved its connectivity, and possesses the largest transportation network. Uttar Pradesh currently operates 700 electric buses, and the city of Ayodhya is set to become the country’s first cyber city. Chief Minister Yogi also informed investors that the state government is preparing to offer incentives of up to 2 million rupees through its EV policy.
Overall, this partnership between Ashok Leyland and the Uttar Pradesh government is seen as a significant step toward promoting electric mobility and reducing dependence on traditional fuel sources.
