Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath celebrated World Tourism Day by announcing that Uttar Pradesh (UP) is attracting tourists from around the globe. He reported that last year, the state welcomed over 46 crore visitors. UP has established itself as a hub for religious, spiritual, heritage, and eco-tourism.
Yogi expressed optimism that over 40 crore devotees will attend the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, scheduled from Makar Sankranti to February 26, 2025. He emphasized that tourism serves as a bridge between heritage and development. He stated, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP has succeeded in attracting tourists from across the world.”
The Chief Minister noted the importance of various circuits, including the Ramayana, Krishna, Buddhist, and Jain circuits, in attracting spiritual tourism. He highlighted the increasing influx of visitors to significant sites like Baba Vishwanath Dham in Kashi, Ayodhya, Vrindavan, Gokul, and Barsana.
In terms of Buddhist tourism, locations such as Sarnath, Kushinagar, and Shravasti are drawing devotees globally. Yogi also mentioned UP’s rich heritage sites, including the Laxmibai Fort in Jhansi, the Red Fort of Agra, and Imambara of Lucknow, underscoring the state’s commitment to enhancing tourist experiences.
Yogi assured that the double-engine government is dedicated to the convenience and interests of tourists. He praised UP’s connectivity through roads, rail, water, and air, which supports its status as a prime tourist destination. As the state prepares for the Mahakumbh, he expressed confidence that UP will thrive as a significant player in the domestic and global tourism markets, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision.
