Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Thursday, firmly addressed the issue of land encroachment by the Waqf Board in Prayagraj.
Speaking at a public gathering in Shringverpur on the occasion of Lord Nishadraj Guha’s birth anniversary, CM Yogi accused the Waqf Board of illegally claiming Maha Kumbh land.
“The Waqf Board had declared Maha Kumbh land as its own. It had turned into a mafia board. However, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah took decisive action to curb this overreach,” he said.
CM Yogi emphasized that the Lok Sabha had already passed a key Waqf-related amendment, and the Rajya Sabha would soon approve it, limiting the board’s authority to welfare activities.
During his visit, CM Yogi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 181 development projects in Prayagraj, totaling ₹579 crore.
These projects span various sectors, including the upgradation of medical colleges, drinking water schemes, and connectivity improvements.
He emphasized that Prayagraj is now evolving beyond a Smart City into an influential urban center.
CM Yogi paid tribute to Lord Nishadraj Guha by garlanding his idol and inspecting the grand Nishadraj Park.
He highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of the region, reinforcing the commitment of the government to preserving its heritage.
He also launched an exhibition showcasing stories of Lord Ram and King Nishad and promoted the ‘One District, One Product’ (ODOP) initiative.
Additionally, under the Nishad Raj Boat Subsidy Scheme, ₹3.20 crore was distributed to 1,100 boatmen to support their livelihood.
CM Yogi reiterated that the UP government has a zero-tolerance policy against mafia activities.
He accused previous administrations of neglecting Prayagraj’s cultural identity and encouraging land-grabbing mafias.
“Encroachments on the sacred land of Shringverpur and other parts of Prayagraj were thwarted under our governance,” he asserted.
The ‘double-engine’ government, led by CM Yogi, remains committed to development and heritage preservation.
As part of this effort, the government granted ₹138 crore in loans to fish farmers through the Kisan Credit Card and provided financial aid to self-help groups under the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
Furthermore, CM Yogi distributed house keys to beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, boosting affordable housing initiatives.
Officials handed approval letters to young entrepreneurs under the Youth Entrepreneur Development Scheme to promote self-reliance and economic growth.
Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Dr Sanjay Kumar Nishad, Narendra Kumar Kashyap, Ramkesh Nishad, Prayagraj Mayor Umesh Ganesh Kesarwani, MLAs Dr Siddharth Nath Singh and Harshvardhan Bajpai, along with several local representatives, attended the event.
With this series of initiatives, the UP government continues to pave the way for infrastructural development while ensuring that religious and cultural heritage remains intact.
