Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday. During the meeting, he sought the Centre’s support for a series of major infrastructure and development initiatives aimed at boosting the state’s growth.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Revanth Reddy urged the Centre to facilitate discussions with the Maharashtra government to ensure efficient utilisation of Godavari waters for Telangana’s irrigation and drinking water needs. He stressed that access to Godavari water remains critical for meeting the state’s future requirements.
The Chief Minister requested approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2 expansion project. He informed the Prime Minister that proposals worth Rs 38,595 crore had been submitted to extend the Metro network by 122.9 kilometres across seven corridors and sought approval for the project as a joint venture between the Centre and the state government.
CM Revanth Reddy also pressed for immediate clearance of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) project. He noted that the state had agreed to bear 50 per cent of land acquisition costs for the northern section and had already released Rs 626 crore to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The Telangana Chief Minister added that land acquisition awards now cover more than 90 per cent of the northern corridor.
CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of the southern section from Choutuppal to Sangareddy. He urged simultaneous approval and implementation of both corridors to strengthen Hyderabad’s transportation network.
The Chief Minister also sought approval for the Hyderabad–Amaravati–Bandar Port Expressway. The project envisions a 12-lane corridor connecting Telangana to Bandar Port. It would provide crucial port connectivity and support exports from the pharmaceutical, electronics and food processing sectors.
CM Revanth Reddy requested the commencement of work on the Warangal airport. He noted that land acquisition is complete and the Airports Authority of India now holds the land. He said the airport would benefit industry, education and tourism in North Telangana.
The Telangana Chief Minister also proposed the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad. He offered 200 acres of land and highlighted Telangana’s existing ecosystem of premier national institutions.
