Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday launched four new tourism circuits at the Akshardham Temple as part of efforts to promote the national capital’s spiritual and cultural heritage and position it as a global tourism hub.
The four circuits, launched by the Delhi government’s Tourism Department, connect prominent temples and other religious sites with historical and cultural landmarks that have so far received relatively less attention on the tourism map.
The initiative aims to allow tourists to experience Delhi’s religious, historical and cultural heritage as part of a single journey.
As part of the promotional campaign, social media influencers and YouTubers will be taken on tours of the routes, with videos, reels and photographs to be shared on social media.
The Delhi government had launched four heritage-cultural circuits in February 2026: Dilli Ki Dharohar, Dilli Ka Dil Aur Virasat, Dilli Ka Rahasya and Dilli Dekho Dil Se.
The government expects the circuits to generate economic opportunities for local guides, transport operators, restaurants, shopkeepers and other small businesses while encouraging tourists to spend more time in Delhi.
The Delhi Tourism Department unveiled the initiative during the Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conclave 2026. Dignitaries, eminent citizens and Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev attended the conclave.
A special Heritage Walk also took place within the Akshardham complex. The walk introduced participants to aspects of Delhi’s cultural and architectural heritage.
Akshardham Temple represents a prominent part of Delhi’s spiritual and architectural heritage.
Guinness World Records recognises it as the world’s largest comprehensive Hindu mandir, showcasing thousands of years of India’s cultural and architectural heritage.
Mahant Swami Maharaj, spiritual head of the BAPS organisation that built Delhi’s Akshardham along with more than 1,800 temples and spiritual centres worldwide, offered prayers for everyone’s progress, good health and righteous living.
