In a significant step towards people-first governance, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday launched two citizen-centric technology initiatives developed by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
The project aims to enhance public safety and convenience, especially for senior citizens and daily commuters.
Jyeshthanubandh: safety for senior citizens
The first initiative, ‘Jyeshthanubandh’, is a mobile application specifically designed for the safety and welfare of senior citizens.
Speaking at the event, CM Fadnavis said, “These innovations reflect an empathetic approach to policing. It is essential that our senior citizens feel secure and supported—and this app delivers exactly that.”

The app enables users to register quickly, access emergency contacts, and receive timely alerts, thereby fostering a sense of connection and safety among elderly residents.
Traffic buddy: digital traffic redressal
The second project, ‘Traffic Buddy’, is a WhatsApp-based grievance redressal system for addressing traffic-related issues.
Citizens can now raise concerns, report violations, or seek assistance through a dedicated WhatsApp number, streamlining traffic management and boosting responsiveness from authorities.
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh welcomed dignitaries and shared a broader vision of integrated urban development.
“Pimpri Chinchwad has evolved rapidly—from a cluster of villages between the sacred towns of Dehu and Alandi into a thriving smart city,” he said.
He highlighted recent projects such as green infrastructure, Olympic-grade sports complexes, and a comprehensive disability survey, while also unveiling new cultural sculptures and murals honouring Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Namdev.
“These works blend spiritual heritage with technological innovation, making timeless teachings accessible to future generations,” Singh added.
The launch event witnessed the presence of several notable figures, including MP Shrirang Barne, MLCs Srikant Bharatiya, Uma Khapre, and Amit Gorkhe, along with MLAs Mahesh Landge and Shankar Jagtap.
Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey and other senior civic officials were also in attendance.
Renowned scholar Dr Sadanand More graced the event as a special guest.
Additional Commissioner of Police Pradip Jambhale Patil delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees and emphasising the importance of continued innovation in public service delivery.
With these new initiatives, Pimpri Chinchwad continues its transformation into a model for smart, inclusive, and citizen-friendly urban governance.
