Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and invited him to inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram on August 1.
Naidu, accompanied by Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu and TDP parliamentary party leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, met the Prime Minister at Parliament House and extended the invitation for the inauguration ceremony.
In a post on X after the meeting, Naidu said the airport honours freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju and serves as a tribute to his courage, sacrifice and patriotism.
The Andhra CM credited Prime Minister Modi with transforming India’s civil aviation sector by making air travel more accessible and affordable.
According to Naidu, the new airport will improve connectivity in North Andhra and create opportunities for tourism, trade and economic growth in the region.

Besides inaugurating the passenger terminal, the Prime Minister will likely inaugurate the GMR Skill Development Centre, the Aviation Hub-University and the GMR-MANSAS Edu City.
Calling the airport a landmark project for North Andhra, Naidu directed officials to provide a one-time complimentary air journey to farmers who contributed land for the project. He also instructed officials to ensure proper traffic management, parking arrangements, security and public amenities to facilitate the smooth conduct of the inauguration ceremony.
