A 14-year-old girl, student of grade nine, allegedly committed suicide in Delhi’s Dwarka. According to the police, the deceased jumped to her death from the staff quarter of a university in Dwarka Seector-16. A suicide note recovered from the girl’s room mentioned her disinterest in studies and the occurrence of suicidal thoughts. The probe is underway, and further details will be disseminated by the police accordingly.
Officers of Dwarka police were informed about the unfortunate incident on Monday, July 3. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan said that they received the information regarding a girl jumping from a building at 5:30 am. He further mentioned that when they reached the location, the girl was found lying on the ground near the Type-4 quarters.
Following the post-mortem, the body was delivered to her parents. The police said that the inquest proceedings have been initiated, and they are investigating the CCTV Photage near the site of the incident. The parents of the student are also being questioned to seek details of any kind of pressure on her.
Speaking of, similar incidents in Delhi have occurred in the past. In May this year, two students hanged themselves after their class 12 CBSE result announcement. As per the reports, their displeasure with their performance in the board exam was the reason behind their suicide. One of the girls was 16 years old, and the other one was 19.
The 16-year-old hanged herself at her home in West Delhi’s Hari Nagar after she obtained low marks in exams. She was taken to DDU hospital by her father. However, the doctors declared her brought dead. On the other hand, the 19-year-old, who lived in northwest Delhi’s Sultanpuri, hanged herself consequent to failing the exam.
