Union Railway, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and IT Minister, Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, recently highlighted the significant advancements in Uttar Pradesh’s railway infrastructure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration. Addressing journalists, he emphasized the unprecedented growth in the railway budget and infrastructure development over the past decade.
During the UPA government from 2009 to 2014, Rs 1,109 crore was allocated for railway development in Uttar Pradesh. In contrast, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, this allocation has soared to Rs 19,848 crore, marking an 18-fold increase. Shri Vaishnav noted that a total investment of Rs 92,000 crore is currently being made for the state’s railway development.
In the last ten years, Uttar Pradesh has seen the construction of 4,900 km of new railway tracks. This is a remarkable achievement, surpassing the total length of railway tracks in Switzerland. Additionally, all railway tracks in Uttar Pradesh have been fully electrified.
The construction of 1,490 flyovers and underpasses in the past decade has significantly improved safety and convenience for rural residents, reducing the number of accidents.
Shri Vaishnav also mentioned that over 40 projects have been identified to ensure smooth operations during the Kumbh Mela, facilitating a hassle-free experience for devotees. The redevelopment of the Prayagraj railway station is planned in multiple phases, with the Chief Minister personally overseeing the preparations and gathering feedback from public representatives.
