Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and supporters who were demonstrating against the BJP were detained by Chandigarh police on Saturday. The demonstration was carried out on accusation of BJP rigging in the Chandigarh Mayor elections on Sunday.
Aam Aadmi Party’s Chandigarh unit was protesting, displaying placards in their hands. Earlier the protest by AAP leaders and workers was conducted in the National Capital against BJP over allegations of rigging in the Chandigarh mayor election.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM and AAP national convener along with Punjab CM Bhagwat Mann and other party leaders and workers protested in Delhi against the BJP.
Congress and the AAP approached the apex court of India in matters related to the Chandigarh Mayoral poll results. Regarding the tampering with the results of the Chandigarh Mayor elections, a hearing was held on January 31 in the Punjab Haryana High Court.
Kuldeep Kumar, the mayoral candidate from AAP and Congress was represented by Advocate General General of Punjab Gurminder Gary. Advocate Anil Mehta was representing Chandigarh Municipal Corporation in the Punjab Haryana High Court.

After hearing the entire matter, three weeks were given to Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and Chandigarh Administration to file their responses in the matter. The next hearing is scheduled for February 26.
Manoj Sonkar, BJP’s representative candidate was declared as the Mayor on Tuesday. He won the Mayoral polls with 16 votes against the 12 votes bagged by Kuldeep, the AAP candidate. Eight votes were declared invalid.
