CETI Foundation Announces Winners Of Naseem Arfi Urdu Media Awards; Ceremony On April 12 In Hyderabad

The CETI Foundation has declared the winners of the first Urdu Media Awards 2025, instituted in memory of veteran Urdu journalist Naseem Arfi.

The CETI Foundation has announced the winners of the first-ever Naseem Arfi Urdu Media Award. Veteran journalist Qurban Ali from Delhi will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to journalism.

In the Telangana category, Syed Sajjadul Hasnain and Mohammed Arshad will be honoured. Both have worked in Urdu journalism for nearly 30 years. From other states, Md. Zakariya (Bihar), a fact-checker, and Rushda Shaheen (Delhi), a feature writer, will also receive the award.

Awards To Honour Naseem Arfi’s Legacy

The CETI Foundation launched the Naseem Arfi Urdu Media Award in memory of the late journalist Naseem Arfi. He served Urdu journalism for over five decades. The Foundation will continue these awards annually for the next ten years.

A panel of journalists, educators, and intellectuals selected the winners. The process was based on clear journalistic parameters. Each winner will get ₹15,000 and a certificate. The Lifetime Award will be honorary.

The award ceremony will take place on April 12, 2025, at 4:30 PM. The venue is the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists Building, Fateh Maidan, Abids, Hyderabad. K. Srinivas Reddy, Chairman of Media Academy, Telangana, will preside. Ch. Karon, CMD of Eenadu Group, will attend as Chief Guest. Other key personalities will also join. Panel discussions on journalism will be held during the event.

Prof. Syed Basharat Ali, Managing Trustee of CETI Foundation, said the awards honour those who follow truth and integrity in Urdu journalism. He added the initiative will also inspire young Urdu journalists.

The CETI Foundation, founded in 1980 and registered in 2011, works for the upliftment of disadvantaged communities through social, educational, and cultural efforts.
