CBI Sends Hard Disks From RG Kar Medical College To Forensic Lab For Examination

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has dispatched four hard disks seized from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Chandigarh for analysis. This action follows an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities at the institution.

CBI officials believe that critical data may have been deleted from these hard disks, prompting their transfer to the CFSL in hopes of recovering the lost information. The move was approved by a special court in Kolkata that is overseeing the financial irregularities case.

Sources indicate that the investigation team suspects the hard disks may not only contain essential financial data but could also hold deleted footage from CCTV cameras situated within the RG Kar premises.

In addition to the hard disks, the CBI is currently working to retrieve deleted data from the mobile phones of former principal Sandip Ghosh and former SHO of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal. Officials believe that recovering this data will provide substantial evidence against both individuals.

According to sources, the mobile devices of Ghosh and Mondal had an “auto-call recording mode” activated, which captured all conversations between them. However, it is alleged that they intentionally deleted these recordings in an effort to eliminate traces of their communications.

Ghosh and Mondal face serious charges, including misleading the initial investigation conducted by Kolkata Police prior to the Calcutta High Court’s decision to transfer the case to the CBI, as well as tampering with evidence following the recovery of the victim’s body on August 9.
