The National Health Authority has recorded more than 2,600 registrations for the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Auto-Adjudication Hackathon 2026. Officials confirmed that April 13 marks the final date for applications.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that the flagship AB PM-JAY scheme currently processes nearly 50,000 claims each day. These claims span over 1,900 treatment categories.
Officials noted that only 15 to 20 per cent of claims undergo automated adjudication. This gap highlights the urgent requirement for scalable and technology-led interventions.
The hackathon aims to design advanced systems for automated claims settlement.
Participants will utilise artificial intelligence, fraud detection mechanisms, standardised documentation, and real-time validation tools. These measures will improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
Students, researchers, developers, start-ups, and professionals can register through the official portal. The registration window opened on March 31 and closes on April 13.
To assist participants, the NHA will conduct a three-part masterclass series beginning April 13.
Sessions will also take place on April 15 and 16, scheduled from 2 PM to 4 PM. These sessions will provide insights into claims workflows and solution frameworks.
The competition will conclude with a two-day offline finale on May 8 and 9 at the Indian Institute of Science.
Shortlisted teams will present their solutions before a panel of experts from healthcare, technology, and public policy.
Winners will receive cash awards of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh per problem statement. They may also secure collaboration opportunities with the NHA.
The initiative seeks to strengthen digital health systems and enhance service delivery under AB PM-JAY.
