Building Collapses In UP’s Barabanki Leading To 2 Deaths, Few Trapped Under Debris

A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is on site at the accident site conducting a search operation to find anyone believed to be trapped.

A two-story building collapse early on Monday in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, left two persons dead and ten others hurt. According to the police, the officials believe that three to four persons may still be trapped beneath the debris and are conducting a search and rescue operation to find them. According to the police, 12 individuals were initially saved and taken to a hospital for treatment, but due to their injuries, two of the victims were unable to be saved and died. The hospital is treating the remainder of the group.

A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is on site at the accident site conducting a search operation to find anyone believed to be trapped. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) squad will shortly also join the rescue operations. They are rigorously looking for the people who are trapped under debris of the fallen building.

Rescue operation still on

“Around 3.10am, we received information about a building collapse in Barabanki. Initially, we were informed that around 19 people were trapped in the incident. Subsequently, the fire service vehicles were mobilised and local residents also lent a hand in the rescue efforts. Later, it was found out that four of a family were out of station and escaped the incident. Of the remaining 16 people, we rescued 12 individuals. We have got information that three or four people are likely still trapped under the debris. SDRF team is also at the spot, (NDRF) will arrive soon. Among the 12 people who were rescued and hospitalised, two have died”, said Dinesh Kumar Singh, SP, Barabanki.
