Reacting to the Union Budget 2026-27, Rajya Sabha MP and former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma said the budget charts a clear path for India to emerge as a global leader in the Orange Economy.
He emphasised that India’s youth will showcase creative skills worldwide, particularly in visual effects and media.
To support this, the government plans to establish the Indian Institute of Creative Technology in Mumbai, the country’s economic capital.
Additionally, 15,000 schools and 5,000 colleges will receive content-creation labs, nurturing creativity across the nation.
Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had highlighted India’s expanding role in the global creative economy, and this budget translates that vision into reality.
Dr Sharma described the budget as inclusive, aiming to uplift all sections of society.
He noted that the banking sector will now act as a development partner. Reforms will make banks self-reliant and aligned with India’s growth goals.
Corporate and municipal bonds will accelerate small-city development, ensuring infrastructure meets urban demands.
He praised the new income tax regime for shifting from punitive measures to a supportive system that rewards honest taxpayers.
The budget also emphasises infrastructure development. Seven high-speed rail corridors will transform the railway sector, while record capital expenditure will stimulate private investment, job creation, and regional balance.
Dr Sharma highlighted initiatives to promote coastal tourism and develop industrial corridors.
He also emphasised green transport with e-buses, expanded emergency and trauma care in hospitals, and increased investment in advanced technologies.
Acceptance of Finance Commission recommendations ensures development reaches both urban and rural areas.
Five university townships will emerge along major industrial and logistics corridors, linking higher education directly with industry and employment opportunities.
These townships will include skill centres, high-tech labs, modern colleges, research hubs, and innovation centres, enhancing education quality and generating local jobs.
Additionally, the National Institute of Design (NID) will open in eastern India, further strengthening skill development and creative industry growth.
Dr Sharma expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for a budget that balances development with fiscal discipline while positioning India as a global hub of creativity and innovation.
