The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) unveiled its candidate selections for 25 out of the 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections through two separate lists released on Sunday.
Previously, party officials in certain districts had announced candidates at the district level.
According to the initial list disclosed by the BSP on Sunday, the Mayawati-led party has nominated Majid Ali for Saharanpur, Shripal Singh for Kairana, Dara Singh Prajapati for Muzaffarnagar, Vijyendra Singh for Bijnor, Surendra Pal Singh for Nagina (reserved for Scheduled Castes), and Mohammad Irfan Saifi for Moradabad.
In Rampur, the party has named Zishan Khan as its candidate, Shaulat Ali for Sambhal, Mozahid Hussain for Amroha, Devvrat Tyagi for Meerut, and Praveen Bansal for Baghpat.
Rajendra Singh Solanki will represent the BSP from Gautam Buddha Nagar, while Girish Chandra Jatav will contest from Bulandshahr (reserved for Scheduled Castes), Abid Ali from Aonla, Anis Ahmad Khan alias Phool Babu from Pilibhit, and Dodaram Verma from Shahjahanpur (reserved for Scheduled Castes).

Later in the day, the party released a second list of nine more candidates: Hembabu Dhangar for Hathras (reserved for Scheduled Castes), Kamal Kant Upmanyu for Mathura, Pooja Amrohi for Agra (reserved for Scheduled Castes), Ram Nivas Sharma for Fatehpur Sikri, Satyendra Jain Sauli for Firozabad, Sarika Singh Baghel for Etawah (reserved for Scheduled Castes), Kuldeep Bhadauria for Kanpur, Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi for Akbarpur, and Suresh Chandra Gautam for Jalaun (reserved for Scheduled Castes).
Uttar Pradesh, which sends 80 representatives to the Lower House of Parliament, will witness voting across all phases of the general elections: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Vote counting will take place on June 4.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP and its ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) secured victory in 64 seats — 62 and two respectively. The SP-BSP coalition secured 15 seats, while the Congress won one.
