BSF And BGB Foil Infiltration Attempt At India-Bangladesh Border

The Border Security Force (BSF), in collaboration with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), thwarted a significant infiltration attempt along the India-Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar district, West Bengal. An official reported that around 1,000 Bangladeshi nationals approached the international border seeking refuge in India.

A BSF spokesperson confirmed that the troops efficiently addressed this unusual situation by coordinating with the BGB to return the individuals to Bangladesh, preventing any escalation of tensions at the border.

The operation was executed with swift and decisive action by the BSF, in cooperation with local civil administration in Cooch Behar, ensuring the situation was managed effectively while maintaining order.

The official emphasized that this operation highlights the BSF’s commitment to border security and its ability to handle humanitarian issues with compassion and adherence to international standards. The BSF, responsible for safeguarding India’s borders with Bangladesh and Pakistan, showed exceptional professionalism in managing this emerging challenge.

The situation at the India-Bangladesh border has been heightened due to recent unrest and violent protests in Bangladesh, which have led to significant political changes, including the removal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In response, security measures have been intensified, with various central and state agencies, including the BSF, Coast Guard, and coastal police, increasing patrols along both land and marine borders.

Particularly in the Sunderbans region, spanning West Bengal’s North and South 24 Parganas districts, security forces have ramped up their vigilance to prevent illegal immigration amid the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh.
