Mukhtar claimed that while in prison, he was fed food laced with poison. This is the second time it has happened. He was also given poison some forty days prior. And lately, on March 19 or 22, he was given this poison once more, which is why his condition is terrible, Ghazipur MP Afzal was cited by PTI. He also mentioned that his brother is in the intensive care unit (ICU) and conscious.

UP prison department issued a statement and said, “Due to the sudden deterioration in the health of prisoner Mukhtar Ansari and falling in the toilet in the night, he was immediately given treatment by the jail doctor. After informing the district administration, a team of doctors was called and the prisoner was referred to the medical college in the night itself. The prisoner was admitted to Medical College Banda under police protection where he is undergoing treatment.”
Mukhtar was admitted to the Banda Medical College at 3:55 am with pain in his abdomen.
“The patient is admitted and conservative treatment has started. The patient is stable currently,” according to the statement.
Since 2005, Mukhtar Ansari has been imprisoned in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. There are currently more than 60 criminal cases against the 60-year-old don who turned politician. Since September 2022, he has been found guilty in eight counts by various UP courts and was incarcerated in the Banda jail.
Mukhtar Ansari’s name was on the list of 66 gangsters that was issued by the UP police last year. his family members earlier expressed concerns that Mukhtar could be killed in a staged encounter.
