On Saturday, BRICS nations adopted the New Delhi Declaration, praising India for hosting the Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue segment.
The declaration said India’s chairship had provided ‘new impetus’ to international cooperation and solidarity.
Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to mutual respect, sovereign equality, solidarity, democracy, openness, inclusiveness, collaboration and consensus.
The grouping reached consensus on a joint statement on the summit’s opening day.
The development marked a ‘major diplomatic breakthrough’ amid sharply differing geopolitical positions among member countries.
The declaration builds on two decades of BRICS cooperation. It commits members to deeper collaboration across political and security, economic and financial, and cultural and people-to-people pillars.
The bloc seeks to strengthen its strategic partnership while promoting peace, a fairer international order, multilateral reform, sustainable development and inclusive growth.
On Saturday evening, Prime Minister Modi hosted a gala dinner for BRICS leaders at Bharat Mandapam.
