Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo on the sidelines of the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

PM Modi shared details of the meeting alongside a photograph showing both leaders shaking hands against the BRICS India backdrop and national flags. He recalled his 2018 visit to Uganda and highlighted the Kampala Principles.

The 10-point framework places Africa at the centre of India’s foreign policy and promotes African-led development, open markets, digital advancement and equitable partnerships.

The leaders discussed ways to broaden India-Uganda cooperation across key sectors. Their talks covered healthcare, agriculture, digital technologies and capacity building.

PM Modi and Alupo explored stronger collaboration to deepen bilateral relations and support development priorities. They underlined the importance of practical partnerships that can deliver wider benefits for both nations.

The discussions further reflected India’s focus on strengthening engagement with African countries.

Cooperation in healthcare and agriculture can support development and improve livelihoods, while digital technologies can expand access to new opportunities.

Capacity-building initiatives remain another important area of collaboration between the two countries.

The leaders sought to advance India-Uganda relations through stronger institutional and development partnerships.

The engagement carries significance for the wider Global South. India and Uganda aim to deepen cooperation while amplifying the collective influence and priorities of developing nations.
