Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India focused on four pillars- resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability- during its BRICS presidency.
Addressing the closing session of the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, PM Modi said member states had transformed their shared vision into ‘win-win collaboration’.
The Prime Minister noted that BRICS now brings together different continents, cultures and development paths. He said this diversity reflects the grouping’s growing strength and global appeal.
Prime Minister Modi stressed resilience as global tensions, pandemics, climate disasters and supply-chain disruptions increasingly affect ordinary people. He said interconnected economies require countries to identify risks early, prepare effectively and respond quickly.
India advanced a BRICS Integrated Early Warning System for infectious diseases. The grouping formulated Early Warning Data Integration Guidelines for disaster management.
Prime Minister Modi said the BRICS Logistics Supply Chain Cooperation Framework would make supply networks more reliable and resilient.
On innovation, PM Modi highlighted the BRICS Incubator Network, which will connect startups and incubators across member states.
India proposed the BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to support scalable and innovative solutions.
The BRICS Network on Digital Agriculture will create new opportunities for farmers. The initiative will align artificial intelligence, geospatial technology and digital public infrastructure with farmers’ needs.
Prime Minister Modi warned that countries must prevent the weaponisation of technology and critical minerals from obstructing shared growth. He called for inclusive technology adoption.
PM Modi emphasised broader public participation in BRICS cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi said entrepreneurs, farmers, researchers, women, youth and ordinary citizens should actively contribute alongside governments.
