Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were among the senior leaders who attended a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting foreign leaders at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said he would attend the dinner alongside his Cabinet colleagues and Chief Ministers from various states. He described India’s hosting of the summit under PM Modi’s leadership as a matter of pride.

Prime Minister Modi welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, among other visiting leaders, at the venue.

India is hosting the two-day 18th BRICS Summit under its 2026 presidency.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this year’s theme is ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’, reflecting PM Modi’s ‘Humanity First’ approach.

The BRICS grouping comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are partner countries.

India is a founding BRICS member and previously chaired the grouping in 2012, 2016 and 2021. It assumed the chairmanship for the fourth time on January 1, 2026. This year marks 20 years since BRICS was established.
