On Monday morning, more than 40 schools across Delhi, including prominent institutions like DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar, received bomb threats via email. The threats disrupted the city’s peak morning hours, as school buses arrived, parents dropped off children, and staff prepared for the day. Authorities quickly mobilized to ensure the safety of students and staff, triggering immediate evacuations.
Emergency Response Teams Deployed
The Delhi Fire Department was the first to receive an alert from GD Goenka School at 6:15 a.m., followed by another call from DPS RK Puram at 7:06 a.m. In response, emergency teams, including bomb detection squads, dog units, and local police, were dispatched to both campuses.

Police officials conducted a thorough search operation at both locations and found no suspicious objects. As a precaution, they sent students home, raising concerns about the safety and security of educational institutions in the capital.
Rise In Threats Across The Country
This incident follows a series of bomb threats that have disrupted schools in Delhi and beyond. In October, an explosion outside a CRPF school in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar damaged the school’s wall and affected nearby shops and vehicles. The following day, another email threat claimed that bomb blasts would target all CRPF schools, though it was later revealed to be a hoax. The frequency of such threats has been rising, not just in Delhi but across India, with schools, hospitals, and airports increasingly targeted.
Delhi High Court Calls For Action Plan
In response to the growing number of bomb threats, the Delhi High Court recently instructed the government to develop a comprehensive action plan to manage such emergencies. Justice Sanjeev Narula, presiding over a public interest litigation (PIL) on the matter, emphasized the need for a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to guide law enforcement, school management, and municipal authorities. The court also recommended establishing a mechanism to address grievances raised by affected parties. The feedback collected through this process would help improve the action plan and better address evolving security challenges.

As investigations into the latest threats continue, authorities are focusing on improving preparedness to minimize disruptions in the future. The recent bomb scare has underscored the need for heightened security measures at educational institutions across Delhi and other parts of the country.
