BJP's Commanding Victory in Madhya Pradesh
In the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, the BJP is poised for a substantial victory, leading in 156 seats, more than double the Congress’ 71. Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan attributes this success to the ‘double engine’ government and welfare schemes, expressing confidence in a comfortable majority.
Despite exit polls suggesting a close contest, the BJP’s early lead indicates a gain of 48 seats, while the Congress has lost 44 compared to the 2018 results. Notably, former UP CM Mayawati’s BSP is leading in three seats. In a potential upset, Congress’ Kamal Nath is trailing in Chhindwara, a seat he has held since 1998.

Kamal Nath, however, remains optimistic, dismissing early trends and expressing confidence in the voters. Chouhan, on the other hand, steadfastly believes the BJP will return to power for the fifth time, citing public support and PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, instrumental in toppling the Kamal Nath government in 2020, echoes confidence in the BJP’s majority. Exit polls had hinted at a competitive BJP vs. Congress race, favoring the former in most predictions.

Madhya Pradesh, historically a BJP stronghold, has seen the party dominate since 2003, with Congress defending a state last in 1998. Despite Congress’ hopes of disrupting BJP’s control, the exit polls align more with the BJP’s continued influence.
