BJP Takes Aim at Sunita Kejriwal, Alleges Kejriwal Draws Inspiration from Lalu Yadav

Sunita Kejriwal, previously not involved in politics during her husband’s tenure, has recently made impassioned video statements.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) once again targeted Sunita Kejriwal, wife of jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, suggesting that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader drew inspiration from Lalu Prasad Yadav, an ally of the INDIA bloc, who handed over power to his wife amid legal troubles.

During the Opposition’s INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized the attendees, stating, “There is no restriction on holding a rally. But who is gathering? Those drenched in corruption, those jailed for looting public money. Those who once claimed to bring a new kind of politics are now discussing governing from jail.”

“I heard that Kejriwal wants to follow Lalu Yadav’s footsteps and make his wife the chief minister… Such individuals are protesting against PM Modi’s honest government… The people won’t listen to them… Everything will be clarified on 4th (June),” Prasad added.

Sunita Kejriwal, previously not involved in politics during her husband’s tenure, has recently made impassioned video statements. She attended the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday and conveyed a message from her husband, who is in Enforcement Directorate custody.

Key leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Akhilesh Yadav, and Tejashwi Yadav, attended the rally amid Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest just before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita will participate in the INDIA bloc’s mega rally at Ramlila Maidan. She will convey her husband’s message from ED custody. It will be his message for the country,” a party source stated.

Responding to questions about Kejriwal’s refusal to relinquish his post after being arrested, Prasad commented, “These days, Kejriwal’s wife seems to be quite active. She can be seen in the chair that her husband used to occupy as the chief minister of Delhi.”

Referring to Kejriwal’s association with the INDIA bloc, which includes RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav, who handed over power to his wife Rabri Devi during a legal crisis, Prasad remarked, “Maybe as an ally, Kejriwal has learned a few tricks from Lalu Prasad. This casts doubt on the claims of probity in public life he made during the Anna Hazare agitation.”

In a related development, Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is also facing legal issues, met Sunita Kejriwal in Delhi. Their meeting at the Delhi chief minister’s residence lasted for 15-20 minutes.
