BJP spokesperson SN Singh has targeted Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, echoing remarks made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the recently held Uttar Pradesh by-elections. Singh emphasized that Akhilesh Yadav’s “arrogance” has been defeated in the state, pointing to the victory of unity and the strength of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Singh said, “See, Akhilesh Yadav’s arrogance has been defeated in Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister often says that when we stay united, we remain safe, noble, and strong. We will neither be divided nor weakened. Today’s results prove that those who engaged in negative politics and division have now torn themselves apart. The people of Uttar Pradesh have chosen the development agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Pujya Yogi Adityanath Ji.”
By-Election Results Expected Today
The results of the by-elections held for nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh are set to be declared today. These seats were previously held by various parties: four by the Samajwadi Party (SP), three by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and one each by the Nishad Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). The by-election contest was particularly fierce, with BJP and SP vying for dominance on every seat.
Vote Counting Begins With Tight Security Measures
The vote counting process for the nine Uttar Pradesh assembly seats began today at 8 AM. The process will take place across multiple locations, with Sisamau set to have a minimum of 20 rounds of counting, while other constituencies like Kundarki, Karhal, Phulpur, and Majhawan will see up to 32 rounds.

To ensure a secure environment, a three-tier security arrangement has been implemented at the counting centers, with live monitoring through CCTV cameras from the control room.
A Tight Contest Between BJP And SP
Each of the nine seats has seen a competitive battle, with the BJP and SP in direct contest. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has also sought to make the race triangular in some constituencies.
Voter Turnout And Vacant Seats
The nine assembly seats in question became vacant due to various reasons. Eight seats—Katehari, Karhal, Meerapur, Ghaziabad, Majhawan, Khair, Phulpur, and Kundarki—became vacant after the current MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha. The Sisamau seat in Kanpur had to be filled after SP MLA Irfan Solanki was disqualified from the assembly due to a criminal conviction.

Voting for these seats took place on November 20. According to data released by the Election Commission, voter turnout varied across constituencies. Ghaziabad recorded the lowest turnout at 33.30%, while other constituencies saw higher participation: Katehari (56.69%), Khair (46.43%), Kundarki (57.32%), Karhal (53.92%), Majhawan (50.41%), Meerapur (57.02%), Phulpur (43.43%), and Sisamau (49.03%).
As the counting progresses and results are expected, political analysts will closely monitor whether the BJP or SP emerges victorious in this crucial by-election battle.
