The BJP on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five-nation tour to the UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy marked a major diplomatic achievement that strengthened India’s global standing and advanced the country’s long-term strategic and economic interests.
BJP leader Amit Malviya said the visit demonstrated how India, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, is now viewed not merely as a large market but as a trusted and influential global power playing an increasingly important role in shaping the international order. He stated that the tour came at a time of growing global uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, conflicts in West Asia and supply chain disruptions, and reinforced India’s position as a reliable and stabilising international partner.
According to Malviya, the UAE visit helped strengthen cooperation in crude oil supplies, liquefied natural gas and strategic petroleum reserves, enhancing India’s energy security amid concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. He added that discussions also focused on expanding local currency trade and increasing the UAE’s participation in India’s strategic petroleum reserve initiatives.
The Netherlands discussions focused on semiconductors, chip manufacturing and cybersecurity, while Sweden partnered with India on AI, 6G and advanced manufacturing.
At the India-Nordic Summit in Norway, leaders discussed green shipping, Arctic research and the blue economy.
In Italy, both countries strengthened cooperation in defence, aerospace and critical minerals, while advancing the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
Amit Malviya said the tour reinforced India’s position as a trusted investment destination and a key partner in global supply chains.
