BJP MP Nishikant Dubey quotes lok sabha rules in "Chori Seenazori" attack on Mahua Moitra
In a renewed attack on Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, BJP leader Nishikant Dubey has referred to a Lok Sabha document emphasizing the confidentiality of replies to questions until they are answered in the House. Dubey, representing Godda, utilized the Hindi idiom “chori fir seenazori” to highlight aggression by a wrongdoer and underscored the potential implications of revealing parliamentary queries on the industrial sector and national security.
Citing a Lok Sabha order dated November 10, Dubey highlighted the need for maintaining confidentiality in matters related to MPs’ questions. Moitra is facing allegations of receiving bribes from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for posing questions in Parliament, leading to recent recommendations from the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee for her expulsion as an MP.

Previously, Dubey had written to Speaker Om Birla, accusing Moitra of accepting bribes to pose questions targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and business rival Adani Group. The allegations also include Moitra sharing her Parliament login credentials with Hiranandani for him to post questions on her behalf.
Dubey shared excerpts from a Lok Sabha bulletin, stating, “Members are requested to maintain confidentiality of the replies and not to share the contents with others until the Question Hour is over.”

The document emphasizes that replies to oral questions remain strictly confidential until answered in the House. It also stipulates that replies to questions listed for written answers should be treated as confidential until laid on the Table of the House after the Question Hour.
The BJP took a swipe at Moitra, suggesting that she may not have been properly briefed by her personal assistant, referring to Hiranandani. Meanwhile, Hiranandani admitted to using Moitra’s login credentials, describing it as a “crazy error of judgment and deeply regrettable.” The ongoing controversy adds layers to the political and ethical dimensions surrounding parliamentary proceedings and the conduct of elected representatives.
